Films to see for…JULY!

I love going to the cinema right from deciding what film to watch to the mixing of the sweet and salt popcorn. However there are so many adverts in TV and Radio every day for new films upcoming films it is really not easy to choose which film to watch!!So I am going to break down the films being released each month and whether they are worth seeing or not!

Starting with JULY:

Despicable Me 2 (UK Release date was late June, USA Release Date 3rd July)-Firstly it stars the voice of Steve Carrell (that stupid guy from Anchorman-Pure legend)! Gru is the main character and in the first installment he goes from being a villain to a good guy. In this film Lucy (an Anti-Villain League agent) wants to recruit Gru as a villain again. Lucy kidnaps two of Gru’s minions (the little yellow oompa loompas) and gets them to spy on Gru for her. Throughout the film Gru gets set up on dates but realises gradually that he is falling in love with Lucy. Same old witty animated comedy following the same kind of set up as Cloudy with a chance of meatballs. Probably worth a watch but guaranteed not to be amazing!

This is the End (UK Release date late June, USA 3rd June)-Best thing about this film is that all the comedian actors play fictional versions of themselves-Brilliant idea! James Franco is throwing a party, attendees include: Seth Rogan (fat guy that seems to always be smoking weed in all the movies he does), Jay Baruchel (who?), Jonah Hill (fat small guy from Superbad), Christopher Mintse Plasse (Role Models Legend!), Michael Cera (Juno impregnator), Craig Robinson (Token Black Guy?), Emma Watson (The plain one who played Hermione in Harry Potter). The Story is simple, during the party the apolocalypse begins-a few of them get eaten by cannibals and a few of them end up in heaven with the Backstreet Boys. From the writers that wrote Superbad and Pineapple Express this movie could not go wrong. It won’t be oscar winning but it is sure to be a laugh! Defo must see!!

The World’s End (UK Release Date 19th July, USA Release Date 23rd August)-The best team up before the American comedians came along was Simon Pegg and Nick Frost-so after they announced that the last film they would work on together would be Paul you can imagine the shock when they suddenly announced The Worlds End. Five childhood friends reunite to finally complete the legendary bar crawl they embarked on in their youth. However they soon find out that the whole of the town has been taken over by robots. Definitely one to watch-SImon Pegg and Nick Frost have gained a large reputation for their comedies and they never fail to impress. I might even go as far to say that this film is going to be better than This is the End.

Pacific Rim (UK Release date 12th July)-In the near future, giant monsters identified called Kaiju have risen beneath the Pacific Ocean. In the midst of a war created by the monsters a special weapon is designed to kill the monsters. The weapon in a large robot known as a Jaeger and it is controlled by two pilots locked in a neural bridge. Definitely a film directed towards the lovers of comic books. Probably not amazing and noticeably follows the same path as any other action movie-would liken it to Transformers. If you want to see animation at its best than this film I am sure will be very well made!

The Smurfs 2 (UK Release Date 31st July)-Gargamel creates Hackus and Vexy, a couple of evil Smurf-like creatures called the Naughties, to harness the magical Smurf essence. When he discovers that only a real Smurf can give him what he wants and that only Smurfette can turn the Naughties into real Smurfs, Gargamel kidnaps Smurfette and takes her to Paris. All the Smurfs then gather together to save Smurfette!!! One for the family and anyone who is a fan of fun animation.
